Year 3 - Jade
Well, what a year 2020-2021 has been for Jade class! I am really proud of you all, you have had to cope with a lot and have come through that with flying colours. Hopefully 2021-2022 will be more "normal" if any of us can remember what that is!
The last few weeks have been great fun. Although it ended in heartache (welcome to being England fans!) we loved following the Euros. Well done Billy for winning the sweepstake, I am only a little bit bitter about it, I might have got over it by September.
Well done for all of your hard work, enjoy the summer holidays, and I will look forward to seeing you in Sapphire class come September. Year 4 now!!
Have a good summer holiday,
What a fantastic day we had taking part in sports day! With activities ranging from golf, football, hurdles and so on Jade class threw themselves at all challenges. Benefiting from the cooler weather we enjoyed the morning finishing with the running races.
Well done to all of Jade Class for taking part in such good spirits!
Oxford Science Centre.
We were very lucky that Oxford Science centre came to see us in Homer First School. Jade class investigate how forces work and try to create a car which moved independently! Using K'nex we built cars which were powered by a wound up elastic band. This taught us about the opposite forces of pulls and pushes.
Team Super Schools
On Tuesday 20th April we had Team Super Schools in to Homer First School, including multiple world champion and olympic silver medalist Samantha Murray! Jade class were put through their paces with some grueling exercises to show us how hard you have to work to succeed in athletics. Then, Samantha Murray gave us and inspirational talk about how athletes conduct themselves to be professional, giving us tips on how to eat, train and techniques to help calm ourselves.
Journey to the Jungle.
Jade class have been learning how to write an explorers log whilst using adverbials, conjunctions and powerful adjectives. We created make our own jungles to let our imaginations run wild at the possibilities of what we may find on our journey.
This term Jade class have been looking at the art of Ted Harrison. Ted Harrison was inspired by the landscapes of Canada and his choice of bright colours were inspired by the northern lights.
The reindeer came to visit school at the end of term. Storm and Blizzard are both ten years old and are from Norway. We learned lots of new information about how reindeer live, move and eat. There was a lot of new information that we hadn't heard before. We all enjoyed their visit, including the class bear Walter Fudge.
On Monday 16th November we were lucky enough to have a theatre show live in our school hall. Some of the action was on a big screen and there was a narrator who jumped in and out of the story! There were lots of songs to clap along to and we especially enjoyed all the funny jokes in the show. It was brilliant!
