Year 4 – Sapphire
Crazy Hair Day
Red Nose Day 2021
Back to School - 8th March 2021
A big welcome back to Sapphire Class and I hope you have all enjoyed being back this week as it has been nearly 11 weeks since we were all together. I would like to thank all the parents, grandparents, and other family/friends that have helped to support the children during this unusual time.
What a great week we have had: the class have all adapted so quickly and are already back into routines. It is great to see so many happy smiling faces coming through the door and truly shows how resilient these children are at such a young age. Sapphire have been really pleased to catch up with each other both chatting and playing outside. We have started back with some gentle learning activities and it's been wonderful watching them work as teams and support one another to help everyone succeed. They really are such a great team!
So far we have been recapping lots of Maths activities including 2D and 3D shapes, times tables, perimeter which, with the sun shining we were able to do outside on the playground using chalks - children loved this!
In Literacy, we have been writing a variety of shape poems and using adjectives to enhance our writing. Children have enjoyed PE both inside and outside the classroom completing team activities as well as Just Dance movements. In Science, we have been learning all about the human body and how it works including muscles, bones, organs, teeth and the digestive system. This is proving a popular and engaging topic with the children wanting to know more and more! As Art proved to be so popular with Sapphire children, this week they have all designed, drawn and coloured a sugar skull: these will shortly be displayed on windows around the classroom for you all to see.
The children have also enjoyed both buying Mother's Day presents via Friends of Homer (thank you for supporting) and making individual cards where they were able to show their creative artwork.
I am sure the children will have told you lots about their first week back but if you have any questions or need to speak to me regarding anything please contact the school office. I am looking forward to more fun activities and learning with Sapphire class as we move forward.
Thanks again for your continued support.

Home Learning Activities - January/February 2021
With the year not being quite what we expected we have still had lots of fun and enjoyed Christmas Jumper Day, Christmas lunch and class parties. Merry Christmas to all and Happy New Year .
The reindeer came to visit school at the end of term. Storm and Blizzard are both ten years old and are from Norway. We learned lots of new information about how they live, move and eat. There was a lot of new information that we hadn't heard before. We all enjoyed their visit.
HALLOWEEN DRESSING UP FUN
I am Year 4 Sapphire Class teacher. I have worked at Homer for 13 years and I have been lucky to work across all year groups. My favourite lessons to teach are Maths (as I enjoy numbers and finding patterns) and PE (playing lots of different competitve sports). I live in Windsor with my husband, our 3 children and our dog Odie. Outside of school I enjoy playing netball, helping run my son's football team and socialising with friends. I am very excited about September as I am looking forward to welcoming children into Sapphire Class. I am planning lots of activities to support and extend your learning in the classroom. I can't wait to see how much you have all grown and hear about your summer fun!
I am a teaching assistant in Sapphire Class. I have worked at Homer for over 7 years across all year groups. My favourite
lessons are Literacy (as I enjoy stories) and Topic (I like to learn about different places and people). When I am not at Homer my hobbies include spending time with my family (especially my grandchildren) and reading. I am really looking forward to meeting all the children coming up from Year 3 into Sapphire class. It will be great to all be back together at Homer!
I teach in several classes, often teaching Science as I really enjoy finding out about things and helping you to investigate the world. My main hobby is music - I play the piano, clarinet and flute and I enjoy singing in a choir every week. You'll often find me singing to myself! I am looking forward to seeing you all again in September and having lots of fun!
