Sports Events & Competitions

A list of sporting events and competitions for the spring and summer terms can be found below.  Please note that this list is subject to change and we notify parents in advance of each event that your child will be attending, once we have received confirmation of the details for each event from The Windsor Sports Partnership.

Here are some ideas of games that can be played at home or in the garden with very little equipment needed.  Great for keeping the whole family active.

The Daily Mile

On Friday 30th April 2021, Homer First School are taking part in the national Daily Mile event. The children are to run, walk or jog 1 mile around our school grounds. This is equivalent to 5 laps around our field and playground.

The purpose of the Daily Mile is to improve the physical and mental health of all children. It is a social event where children can chat to their friends whilst participating in exercise. Results have also shown an improvement in children’s focus in the classroom after completing the Daily Mile!

Team Super Schools

On Tuesday 20th April we were joined by GB Olympic Silver Medalist for Modern Pentathlon Sam Murray alongside Adrian Patrick, a commonwealth Games Gold Medalist 4 x 400m who helped to run the event.

The children at Homer First School completed a fun exercise circuit involving lots of star jumps and burpees. The excercises were followed by a talk from Sam Murray. The children enjoyed learning about the 5 sports Sam competes in and her very strict diet. Sam taught us about mindfulness and how a strong brain supports our strong body.

The children gathered sponsors from friends and family for this event. The closing date is tomorrow - 30th April. Check back soon to see how much money the children have raised for sports charities and our school.

Please see below photos of the Team Super School events.
