Eco Warriors
Eco Warriors!
We Care for Our Planet
Welcome to the Eco Warriors page at Homer First School and Nursery. The Eco Warriors are a newly formed group of 11 children from Reception to Year 4 who care about our world and want to make our school eco-friendlier. We meet regularly to discuss environmental projects, raise awareness, and take action to help our school and community protect the world around us. You can spot us wearing our Eco Warrior badges.
This is our pledge:
Helping our school, eco warriors stand strong.
Our world matters—protecting it is where we belong.
Making change by recycling what we use each day,
Embracing reusing, so less is thrown away.
Respecting Earth together, looking after our world in every way
What Do We Do?
Our Eco Warriors lead by example.
They all collect paper for recycling from their classrooms.
The older Eco Warriors make sure that the school is not wasting energy leaving lights on.
They all keep their eyes open for any litter around our school, and frequently patrol with their litter pickers.
The Eco Warriors like to share their enthusiasm and knowledge with the other children and are beginning to plan assemblies to do this more.
The Eco Warriors understand that the outside area of our school is important too. They will be encouraging the classes to take on a planting project very soon.
The children encourage their peers to take part in Walk to School Week, recognising that coming to school by car is not good for our environment.
๐ Be an Eco Hero at Our School! ๐
โป๏ธ Recycle every day, put waste in the bin,
๐ Reuse your paper—both sides are a win!
๐ก Turn off the lights when you leave the room,
๐ฐ Use your own bottle, less plastic = boom!
๐งน Pick up the litter, keep playgrounds clean,
๐ธ Plant and grow flowers, the prettiest scene!
๐ถโ๏ธ๐ฒ Walk or ride bikes when you’re able to go,
๐ค Work together as eco-heroes, helping Earth grow
CURRENT PROJECT – REUSING AND RECYCLING – SWAP A BOOK SHED
We are raising money to buy a small shed. This will then be filled with books that our pupils donate because they no longer read them. The Swap a Book shed will be open frequently for any child to swap a book or take a book that they would like. This is an idea to stop books being thrown away, kept unread on shelves and also for children to have access to free books. Once the money is raised to buy and set up the shed, there will be no charge for the books. We are going to be raising money for this after Easter – more details to follow soon.
