Starting Nursery

Starting Nursery is an exciting step for young children and their families, and at our school we are committed to ensuring this transition is warm, welcoming, and supportive. Guided by the principles of Kindred Squared, we understand that strong relationships and a sense of belonging are key to helping children feel safe, secure, and ready to explore their new environment.
We work closely with parents and carers to get to know each child as an individual, valuing your knowledge and insights. Through visits, settling-in sessions, and open communication, we aim to build children’s confidence and create a positive start to their nursery experience.
Our Nursery provides a nurturing environment where children can develop their independence, communication, and social skills through play-based learning. We support children in learning routines, forming friendships, and growing in confidence at their own pace.
As part of this, we begin to encourage independence in self-care skills. In line with guidance from Kindred Squared, we recognise that children will be at different stages with potty training when they start Nursery. We work in partnership with families to support this important developmental step in a sensitive and consistent way.
We also promote the importance of good oral health from an early age. Establishing regular toothbrushing routines helps to prevent tooth decay and supports children’s overall wellbeing. We encourage families to begin and maintain these habits at home as part of a healthy daily routine.
To support you with potty training and toothbrushing at home, we have provided helpful guidance and resources below from Kindred Squared.
