At Homer First School we believe
Physical education in our school helps to develop the children’s knowledge, skills and understanding, so that they can perform with increasing competence and confidence in a range of physical activities. These include dance, games, gymnastics, athletics and outdoor adventure activities. Physical education promotes an understanding in children of their bodies in action. It involves thinking, selecting and applying skills and promotes positive attitudes towards a healthy lifestyle. Thus, we enable them to make informed choices about physical activity throughout their lives.
AIMS
Get Set 4 PE
At Homer First School, we use the Get Set 4 PE scheme of learning to deliver high-quality, inclusive physical education from Nursery through to Year 4. This progressive programme ensures that children develop fundamental movement skills, confidence, and a love of being active in a fun and engaging way. Get Set 4 PE supports our teachers with clear planning, assessment, and progression, while providing a broad and balanced PE curriculum that meets national requirements. Through a range of activities including games, dance, gymnastics, and athletics, pupils are encouraged to build physical competence, teamwork, resilience, and positive attitudes towards health and wellbeing, laying strong foundations for lifelong participation in physical activity. On top of this, to further enrich the curriculum we work with Windsor Sports Partnership to deliver high quality PE lessons, sports events and staff training.
