Reception EYFS - Diamonds
Welcome to Diamonds Class page
Welcome to Diamonds class page. Class teacher and teaching assistant for Diamonds class are Miss Noon and Mrs Rogers. We will update this page with some of the activities and special events that we will celebrate throughout the year.
I love working in Reception, we have so much fun exploring the world around us through arts and crafts, messy play, maths and literacy.
My hobbies outside of school are running with my mum, going to the gym, walking our four dogs and spending time with my friends.
The children really enjoyed meeting the animals during our visit from the farm this week. We met lots of different farmyard animals. They had the opportunity to feed the ducks and chickens, brush the pony's hair and hold some of the mice.
We have been learning about Spring and the changes that we see from Winter to Spring. We have enjoyed painting daffodils and labelling the parts of a flower. Take a look at some of our lovely paintings!
World Book Day
We had a great time coming to school today dressed as our favourite story book characters. Take a look at our outfits!
We have enjoyed learning about pancake day this week. We decorated our own pancakes, made a shopping list of items we would need to make a pancake mixture and measured out the largest pancake in the world on the playground! We hope you enjoyed pancake day as much as we did!
NSPCC Numbers Day
We took part in the NSPCC numbers day. For mufti, we had to wear something with a number on it. We had some fantastic creations. Well done!
The Gingerbread Man
Our text focus for the next few weeks is The Gingerbread Man. So far we have:
- Read the story and discussed as a class
- Acted out the story
- Decorated our very own gingerbread men templates
- Made gingerbread biscuits
- Re told the story using our story map
We have enjoyed learning about the seasons of the year. We have talked about the differences between each season and how the environments change.
Merry Christmas From Diamonds!
In Diamond class we have been busy little elves preparing for Christmas. We have enjoyed making Christmas decorations and cards for our families; we hope you like them!
We enjoyed making a class Christingle and took part in a Christingle service.
We had two naughty elves visit our classroom and they have been up to all sorts of mischief!
To finish off the term, we had a lovely Christmas lunch in the hall with all of our friends and a Christmas party where we played lots of games and danced.
We hope you have a lovely Christmas and a happy New Year.

SNOW DAY!! 29.11.2021
We had a great time playing outside in the little bit of snow that we had overnight. This was a great topic for discussion and we talked about the seasons and the changes we see. We also enjoyed playing with ice and discussed that ice melts when it becomes warm.
Where we live
We have enjoyed learning about the different types of homes that we live in. We have made our own shape houses using 2D shapes!
All about me!
We have enjoyed learning all about ourselves. We have painted self portraits and have been practising writing our names. Can you continue to practise writing your names at home?
We have had a great start to the school year in Diamonds Class. We have been busy getting to know each other and have enjoyed exploring our new environment. We have started our topic 'Getting to know you'. We will be looking at ourselves, our families and those who are special to us.
Reception New Starters 2021
Early Years Foundation Stage
Your child's time in the Early Years Foundation Stage should prepare them for the rest of their time in school.
We want children to develop independence, to co-operate and to work alongside others. We encourage them to talk and communicate in a range of situations, building on what they already know, understand and can do.
Planning is led by the interests of the children. Our staff provide opportunities for every child to achieve their potential. During this stage a stimulating learning environment through play delivers all curriculum areas which need to form the basis of future learning including phonics, early reading and mathematics skills.
The children learn through play. They can explore, practice and refine specific skills through carefully organised activities and events.
Every child has a learning journey which documents all their learning and progress through the year. This document captures the experiences and learning journey for each individual child, which is a wonderful keepsake at the end of the year.
