Year 4 - Amethyst

Another fun home learning activity that we completed was these models of human skeletons. We were allowed to use anything that we could find in our houses to represent the different bones. It was a great way to learn the names of all the different bones in the body. How many can you name?

Ted Harrison inspired landscapes

As one of our home learning activities we looked at the work of Ted Harrison, a Canadian landscape painter. We thought his work was amazing and it inspired us to produce our own pictures in a similar style. Aren't they amazing!

Christmas Jumpers and Christmas Lunch

At the end of term we celebrated Christmas Jumper day by wearing our best festive knitwear to school. There were some amazing creations including lights and bells too! We also had our Christmas lunch in the hall. We each made a hat to wear and we listened to our favourite Christmas songs while we ate. It was a lovely day.

Reindeer Visit

The reindeer came to visit school at the end of term. Storm and Blizzard are both ten years old and are from Norway. We learned lots of new information about how reindeer live, move and eat. There was a lot of new information that we hadn't heard before. We all enjoyed their visit.

The Wizard of Oz

On Monday 16th November we were lucky enough to have a theatre show live in our school hall. Some of the action was on a big screen and there was a narrator who jumped in and out of the story! There were lots of songs to clap along to and we especially enjoyed all the funny jokes in the show. It was brilliant!

Halloween Fancy Dress

There were some fantastic costumes when we dressed up for Halloween!
Amethyst Class Staff

Miss Henderson

I am Amethyst class teacher and KS2 Leader. I have been at Homer for quite a long time and have taught in lots of different age groups. I especially enjoy working with the Year 4s and helping them to get ready for middle school. English is my favourite subject to teach but I also really like doing lots of Art and DT lessons. When I am not at school I enjoy going to the theatre to see musicals, eating out in nice restaurants and spending time with my nephews. I am excited to meet my new class properly in September and getting to know you all.

Mrs Bleach

I teach in several classes, often teaching Science as I really enjoy finding out about things and helping you to investigate the world.  My main hobby is music – I play the piano, clarinet and flute and I enjoy singing in a choir every week.  You’ll often find me singing to myself! I’m looking forward to getting to know you all and having lots of fun.

Mrs Peachey

I have been working with Miss Henderson in Amethyst Class for a few years now and really enjoy working in Key Stage 2.

I love gardening and have an allotment where I grow a variety of fruit and vegetables. I also enjoy arts and crafts, reading, spending time with my family and looking after my pets, including a very old tortoise that lives in my back garden, two guinea pigs and a cat called Smudge.I am looking forward to getting to know you all in September and having lots of fun with all the activities we get up to in Year 4.
