Our Graduated Response
Our Graduated Response (or approach) is a structured, cyclical Assess-Plan-Do-Review (APDR) cycle used to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) by gradually increasing specialist help as needed, ensuring support matches the individual's needs to remove learning barriers and help them reach their potential. It starts with universal, high-quality teaching and moves to targeted, specialist, and highly specialist interventions, with constant review to see if support is working or needs adjustment.
How it Works (The Cycle)
- Assess: Identify a child's specific strengths and barriers to learning.
- Plan: Decide on support and strategies to meet those needs.
- Do: Implement the planned support and interventions.
- Review: Evaluate the impact of the support and decide on next steps (e.g., continue, adjust, or no longer needed).
