Reading Ambassadors
Welcome to the Reading Ambassadors page at Homer First School and Nursery. The Reading Ambassadors are a group of sixteen KS2 children who love reading and want to share their knowledge and skills with others. They help to plan and organise special reading themed events such as World Book Day and National Storytelling Week as well as becoming reading buddies for some of our younger pupils. You can spot them wearing their Reading Ambassador badges.
What Do Reading Ambassadors Do?
Our Reading Ambassadors lead by example.
They model reading for pleasure within their classrooms.
They create posters to showcase their favourite books.
They take part in assemblies, talking about why reading is so important to them.
They pair up with younger children in the school to hear them read and share books with them.
They help to organise the school library area.
They assist with organisation of whole school reading activities such as World Book Day and National Storytelling Week. Most recently, the Reading Ambassadors set up an outside reading area on World Book Day which proved very popular with the other children.
