Manor Green Inclusion Event 2025
Sun 29 Jun 2025Manor Green and Cox Green School invited schools to attend a celebration of how we are standing together as a community to raise inclusive awareness. The event took place on Friday 27th June on Cox Green field. Pupils from Homer joined in with the performance of Take That’s ‘Shine’ using Makaton.

Alexander Devine Fundraising Coffee Morning
Fri 13 Jun 2025It was a lovely occasion that brought our school community together in support of Alexander Devine Children's Hospice. We raised just over £400.00.
We were thrilled to see so many happy children and families enjoying the delicious cakes and soaking up the sunshine! We appreciate your patience during the slightly lengthy queues.
A special thank you goes out to the staff and the fantastic Year 4 children for their hard work and commitment. -
VE Day 2025 celebration
Fri 09 May 2025We had a lovely afternoon celebrating VE Day with a little tea party on the field. After some cake and squash, the children sang a song and had great fun dancing a lindyhop.

Trip to The Barbican
Tue 01 Apr 2025We took a group of KS2 children to The Barbican in London to see The London Symphony Orchestra play in a concert. We travelled by train and really enjoyed the long escalators at Farringdon station.

Reindeer Run update
Tue 07 Jan 2025A huge thank you to all our families who supported our Reindeer run, raising funds for Thames Hospice. The children had great fun and we raised over £1,700 which is an incredible amount.

Reindeer Run in aid of Thames Hospice
Mon 02 Dec 2024Hannah and Olivia from Thames Hospice visited our school this morning to talk to the children about the important work of the hospice. We are delighted to be supporting our local charity Thames Hospice by taking part in the Reindeer Run 2024 on the 17th December, which will see all the pupils of Homer First School don Reindeer Antlers and run laps of the playground. We are so excited to be supporting Thames Hospice by taking part in The Reindeer Run and hope to raise lots of sponsorship for local families who need the care of Thames Hospice.

Night Owls Visit Homer

The Night Owls team visited Homer on Wednesday. It was a fantastic opportunity for the whole school to get up close to some amazing Birds of Prey! It was a great experience for the whole school to see and learn more about these beautiful creatures. We watched the owls fly across the hall and afterwards the children had their photograph taken with Dottie the barn owl.

Reindeer Visit

Topaz Class really enjoyed meeting the reindeers today. The children learnt about the reindeer’s native habitats, evolution and how the reindeer have adapted. They learnt some interesting facts about their antlers, hearing, vision, smell and moulting.

Eco-Warriors litter pick for Earth Day
Mon 22 Apr 2024The Eco-Warriors were out and about today picking up plastic waste around the school grounds. A surprising amount of small items of plastic were discovered! We have been learning about how to stop plastic pollution as part of our Earth Day activities today.
